About The Event

Hacktoberfest, the month-long festival of supporting and contributing to open-source, is back again this year. We are excited to share with you guys that CBIT will be hosting a 24-hour online hackathon as part of it, called CBIT Hacktoberfest Hackathon. Hacktoberfest is a virtual festival to celebrate open source contributions presented by DigitalOcean, Intel and DEV. It is the easiest way to get into open source! We are hosting the Hacktoberfest on the 30th and 31st of October 2020.

  • All engineering students from AICTE /UGC/ IIT/ NIIT/ IISER/ IIIT/ Government approved educational institutions with a zeal to contribute to open source and learn.

  • Each team may consist upto 5 students currently enrolled in an educational institution in India.

  • Not at all! A hackathon is a great place to expand your network and learn new things. You can register as an individual and we will create a team of 5 and contact you.

  • Absolutely. This is the best place to get started with Open Source. Our Mentors will be there to guide you throughout the event.

  • Before registering CBIT Hacktoberfest Hackathon 2020, make sure you have a GitHub and Disord account. Register yourself on the official Hacktoberfest website. Once that's done all you have to do is register yourself for our event with the registration link provided!

  • The virtual event will be hosted on Discord and GitHub. Once your registration is complete we will send you a Beginner's Guide to our Discord Server. We will also host a session on setting up Discord prior to the event.

  • Open source refers to source code that is publicly accessible and allows anyone to inspect, modify or learn from it. Open source projects encourage collaboration and the freedom to use the software for any purpose you wish.
